Quick Paths

Here are the fastest routes to the most common goals in Forge. Each path assumes you have completed First-Run Setup — the package and permission-set steps apply to every org; the payment-gateway step only if you're running paid events.

Create and publish a free event

1. From Events in the sidebar, click New Event, or use Quick Create on the Home dashboard.
2. Choose "Start from Scratch" or "Clone Existing" to base it on a past event.
3. Enter the event name, dates, and venue or webinar details.
4. In the Tickets & Items tab, add at least one free ticket by checking "Free" on the item.
5. Set the event Status to Active and Visible to true.
6. Copy the registration URL from the Overview tab and share it.

Create a paid event

1. Follow the steps for a free event, but set a price on each ticket item instead of marking it free.
2. Ensure a Payment Gateway is connected (Admin > Payment Gateways).
3. Optionally configure a fee in the Tickets & Items tab to pass processing costs to registrants.
4. Test registration in a sandbox environment before going live.

Check in attendees at the door

1. Open the Volunteer Check-In app at /checkin on a tablet or phone.
2. Select the event.
3. Scan an attendee's QR code (from their confirmation email) or search by name.
4. Tap "Check In" — the attendee's Salesforce record is updated instantly.

Send a targeted email to registered attendees

1. Open the event workspace and click the Communications tab.
2. Click "New Email" and choose an audience segment (e.g., Registered, specific ticket type).
3. Select or create an email template.
4. Preview, schedule or send immediately.

Export attendee data

1. Open the event workspace and click the Attendees tab.
2. Use filters to narrow the list (by status, ticket type, session, etc.).
3. Click "Export" to download a CSV. Note: the export includes only the fields visible in the current view.
