Profiles
A Forge user's role determines what they can see and do inside Forge, on top of whatever their Salesforce permission sets already allow. Every user is assigned exactly one role.
Built-in roles

| Admin | Salesforce Admins and Forge org owners. | Full access, including the Admin section (gateways, record layouts, users, logs). |
| Planner | Day-to-day event management. | Create and manage events, attendees, sessions, forms, and communications; no Admin section access. |
Custom Profiles is in development
A third role, Custom, is reserved for org-defined profiles with granular, per-section access (e.g. a finance-only view of payment gateways). This capability exists in the codebase but is not yet enabled for customer orgs — see the Custom Profiles roadmap page for its current status.
Assigning roles to users
Roles are assigned on the Users & Accounts page (Admin → Users & Accounts). You can reassign a user's role at any time; the change takes effect at their next page load.
Forge roles are separate from Salesforce permissions
A Forge role controls navigation and section access inside Forge. It does not replace Salesforce CRUD/FLS — a user still needs the right Salesforce permission sets (see the Permissions page) to actually read or write the underlying records, regardless of their Forge role.
